ABOUT US
Who we areThe Baptist Union of Uganda (here after called the BUU), is a duly registered Non Governmental Organisation under registration number S.5914/316 registered as an umbrella organisation of all Baptist Churches in Uganda to carry out nationalistic programmes in the area of Evangelism, Church Planting, Human needs (relief) and developmental activities aimed at alleviating ignorance, poverty, diseases, and evil ways facing society.
Our Vision
To see its member churches strong, mature, stable and united to fulfill the Great Commission (Mathew 28:19-20, acts 1:8).
Our Mission
To serve and strengthen its member churches to faithfully live, proclaim and grow toward maturity in the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The mission statement
To reach out to the lost with the Gospel of salvation in view of growing and strengthening churches to be self sustaining,
self propagating, self growing to meet the human needs and to be supportive to the BUU.
The Objectives
- To promote oneness among the Baptists in Uganda.
- To promote the formation and growth of Baptist churches in Uganda and to help such churches in their efforts to preach the good news of Jesus Christ.
- To promote cooperation among Baptists and other Christian denominations in keeping with our unity in Christ.
- Leadership Development of Baptist Pastors.
- To serve as a channel towards social concerns and alleviating human need.
- To speak on behalf of the Baptist churches to the government or to any other organisation or body.
Beliefs
- We believe that the Bible is God’s word that was written by men divinely inspired and that it is the supreme infallible authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe that all men by nature and by choice are lost sinners and can only be saved by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour through Faith.
- We believe in the church as the living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and of which all regenerated people are members.
- We believe that the only two ordinances that Christ gave to the church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
- We believe that all Christians should be faithful citizens and obedient to the State and government in upholding and maintaining the laws of the State.
